Barley, Radishes & Carrots (Canterbury)

BARLEY

The neighbours are impressed with how the paddock looks. One head of grains in the paddock has 40 grains in it. That’s amazing. Really happy with how it’s looking and still no fungicide used. The Net Blotch disappeared after a foliar application of Zelp.

The yield was 11t/ha of feed barley, only applying 30 units of N. A great result.

RADISH

Half the 5ha Paddock was planted with Zelp, the other not, and the visual difference was evident from about 2 weeks after planting. The Zelp radishes were a different colour, and all season grew stronger and taller.

CARROTS

After both groups were washed the carrots in the Zelp treatment were more orange, more even in size and were more dense. Gross, I have turned 20kgs of Zelp, into (on the conservative side) an extra 6400 Kg of marketable first grade carrots. This season, my carrots are fetching around $0.90 / kg. So, if my math serves me correctly, that is an extra $5760.00

Evan Shannon - EWES & HOGGETS

I drench my ewes and hoggets with kelp to provide them with iodine before they go on crops. This drench also provides a pre-lambing drench to help provide iodine to the in-lamb ewe before birth. A prenup drench is also given to ewes to increase conception. I notice the ewes have a gloss to their wool a few days after drenching.

I recommend giving kelp a go with your animals.

Hamish Reid - PEAS

The peas grew almost exponentially in size in the 2 weeks after application.
They didn’t double in size after application but
it wasn’t far from it.

Nic Aitken - BEES

I feeds my bees a mix of Sugar/Water/Kelp in Winter, 1gm Kelp per 1kg Sugar. The Bees recover quicker after winter with the additional nutrients of Kelp, ready to produce honey in Spring.
— Nic Aitken, Bee Keeper at Tai Tapu Bees

Allan Richardson - Fodder Crops

I will definitely use Giant Kelp again, with Giant Kelp the fodder beet established more quickly and grew more leaf and more bulb.
— Allan Richardson, Farmer

Tony Robinson - HERITAGE TOMATOES

As a greenhouse grower, growing nutrient dense food crops for a farmers market I have been using your zelp kelp for a number of years with some very successful results especially on my heritage tomatoes.
